Wow, it's been a super long time since I made a piece of clothing, much less followed a pattern. It's like riding a bike (sort of), it all comes back to you, just takes a little bit of practice. So, I wanted to make little Jon Jon rompers for Grayson and Kyler. Didn't seem to difficult. Its probably been 25+ years since I made a button hole and certainly have never even used my new sewing machine's button hole feature! Had to read up on that and practice numerous times but ohmyguudness.....my Bernina can make awesome button holes. The rompers also have snaps and I had never done that. Found snap strips at JoAnn's and that worked perfect.
With twins you always have to make two of everything! One is blue gingham and the other is red. I don't know how to smock, embroider or appliqué so these will be super simple little rompers. I actually found a cute iron on appliqué that matched the red and blue. Finished the rompers and was ready to iron on the appliqué and wouldn't you know it, I ironed the first one to the back of the romper! It's on there good, no way could I get that off. Back to the store with my fingers crossed that they had one more of the appliqué. Fortunately I was in luck. Now the red one has the firetruck on the front and the back.
PaPa Jay thought the twins needed something more "boyish" so I made these cute little monster rompers.
The twins Mom doesn't particularly care for them (I understand!) but Grayson likes his!!
Hi! My name is Tricia Young and I live in Houston with my husband Jay. We live in a 60 year old house with lots of character which means we are constantly updating or fixing something. My mother taught me how to sew when I was very young. Back then, our sewing room was a closet. Now I have a whole "studio" and I love it! I am also a new grandmother to the two most beautiful twin boys ever. I am fortunate to live close to my wonderful daughter and son-in-law so we get together frequently. In addition to spending time with my family and quilting, I also love to cook, decorate my house and shop for clothes.
